As they encounter other Mamodo and face off in Mamodo Battles Zatch wishes to become the next king to end the Mamodo tournament after the suffering of one of his kind during the fight. So for some reason decides to send a child with amnesia to live with his son, weird as it sounds it actually turned out to be the best thing for Kiyo as because of Zatch he learns to open up and gain a true friend. Kiyo’s distant father, Seitaro Takamine, discovered Zatch in a forest in England unconscious and had lost his memory of everything in the Mamodo World. His miserable life soon came to an end when a little boy named Zatch Bell came into his life, not by choice though. It was his intelligence however that made him a target for bullying causing him to become introverted and apathetic to the point where he started to skip school. Kiyo was so smart his intellect actually annoyed his teachers. Kiyo Takamine was a 14-year-old high school student was considered a genius he has an IQ of over 180. Each Mamodo can have spells unique to them or have the same spell but when a pair is made, they’ll start out with only a single spell, but through experience and hard work more spells can be learned. Each Mamodo carries a spell book that seals away their supernatural powers and requires a human companion, bookkeepers, to read aloud and cast them. Every 1,000 years, one hundred Mamodo are transported to Earth where they must find their human Bookkeeper companion and compete in a tournament for the title of kingship of the Mamodo World.
